Dev Haskell--Private Detective--great books!

I love every single book Mike Faricy has written in the Dev Haskell series. They are funny but yet suspenseful, great plots, love the characters. If you are looking for a great read to entertain yourself, choose all or any one of the Dev Haskell books.

Take two kidnapped kids that Dev is supposed to be babysitting, add a local mob boss, who wants money back that was stolen from him, and you have a typical Dev Haskell mystery. Typical for Dev Haskell is a great read for us. Page turning, can't put down action.

A More Violent and Less Funny Dev Episode

Dev is asked to babysit two young girls when their mother has a class to attend and the babysitter is unable to be there. He's accosted by a man who knows the mother, and the girls are taken by him. Dev's car is also taken by this kidnapper and is used to rob a gangster who thinks Dev is the robber since his car is spotted. Dev must find the girls and get the money back.

I've read and enjoyed most of the Dev Haskell stories. This one is not as funny and quirky but rather dark with much more violence. I much prefer humor over violence, but this is still a good book.

Get the book, not the Kindle

This is as saucy as you would expect from Cumming. However I made a big mistake. I thought I'd ordered the BOOK, but instead I'd ordered the Kindle version. I have one of the earlier kindles and photos viewed on it are horrible. Cumming is a fun snapshot taker, not a photographer, which reduces the quality that much more. I thoroughly enjoyed the narrative and with squinting I could get the idea of the photos, but I want to go to a real store, find the book, and flip through it to see what I missed. By all means, buy this book if you are into irreverent personal stories of behind the scenes Hollywood and Broadway, but pay the extra money and get the "real" book.

In this and his last book, he doesn't hesitate to share intimate moments of his life, which alternately left me in tears and fits of giggling. Buy this book; you won't regret it!

About the Author
JOSHUA FREE is the founder of the Mardukite Chamberlains (Mardukite Research Organization) and the subsequent publishing house Mardukite Ministries (Mardukite Truth Seeker Press). Through this organization, he has been widely published in more than 40 books on subjects regarding ancient Mesopotamian religion, the Sumerian Anunnaki, the Mardukite tradition of Babylon, Akkadians and Assyrians (Chaldeans) including the volumes: "Secrets of Sumerian Language", "Mesopotamian Magic", "Sumerian Wisdom & Anunnaki Prophecies", "Babylonian Magick" and the original underground bestselling Mardukite sourcebook, "Necronomicon: The Anunnaki Bible", also available as the "Necronomicon: Anunnaki Legacy" (Silver Edition). This book was a great book for me to read as I entered the ministry. I have purchased Crucified by Christians for many friends who had terrible experiences with co-workers or church leaders. However, the ones who benefit the most have been the spouses who watched the one they loved being deeply hurt. It is a great read and gives a perspective to the hardships we face in life's journey.

Hard-hitting. Profound. Scriptural. Convicting.

Gene Edwards reveals the good work of God in a crucified life. Yieldedness, surrender, and forgiveness. In fact, not learning the lesson of forgiveness is tantamount to smashing the face of your spiritual clock; we will go no further with God. Our progress is stopped.

However, on the other side of hurt, humiliation and harm of a "personal crucifixion" lies a closer walk with the Lord: a walk of profound peace, of deep assurance, and abiding love where the world, at last, loses its surly grip on our lives.

We think it strange for a loving father wanting, even orchestrating, our hurt and I'm not convinced I agree with Edwards on that point. I don't believe the Father uses disease, poverty, lies or other weapons of the evil one to destroy his children. In fact, they have been given authority over all the power of th enemy. Rather, God is looking for his children to crucify themselves, from the inside out: to come to a place of yieldedness, surrender and trust upon him alone.

However, one thing is certain, the world hated the Lord. Falsely accused him, slandered him, humiliated, tortured and brutally murdered him. Can His followers and disciples expect anything less?

"Exquisite Agony" does a masterful job of answering the question: "How would love respond?"

These are stories that were told before missionary contact and I realized with each story that I listened to I had heard them before…not from my tribe but from another ancient tribe who has left an impacting legacy on the earth with the greatest story ever told within a book called The Bible.

The Creator planted the seed in my heart to write this book as a way to help build the bridge of reconciliation between the nations. You might laugh, cry, sing for joy or wail from the deepest parts of your soul. Betrayal, love, reconciliation, unity, sacrifice, joy, peace, history, archaeology, science, the perseverance of the human spirit and the longing for Creator to heal our land and broken hearts. Inspiring and insightful

I loved this book.

It is clear from the beginning pages just how much it was written from the heart and that made the experience of reading it touch me on a personal level and changed the way I view my own past.

Even though this book is packed with recent and historical information, it didn't feel as if the author was just informing or teaching me, but rather like he was talking to me. It felt like I was sitting there with him and PipeCarrier, sharing in that warm crackling fire, hearing the sounds of the forest, and learning the truth about a culture for which I have felt so many mixed emotions about throughout my life.

It changed me to read those stories- to hear them told in my head as I imagined myself there. I realized that much of what the author was discussing had also impacted my life through my mother's. Because of the life my beloved half-white, half-native mother endured, I grew up with a strange love-hate mixture of feelings towards the past and present actions of the Europeans, Americans, and Native Americans. Because my mother grew up without her native father in her life, she only had an understanding of her white Irish family's culture and since he wasn't there because he had abandoned them, she was shamed out of ever learning his. Once she became a believer in Jesus, she was further ostracized from the Native culture by all of the disinformation taught about who, how, and what the First Nations worship and believe in. Like everyone else, she was taught by school, media, movies, etc., that Natives were all polytheists ranging anywhere from New Age gurus to out-right Voodoo shamans. As someone who loves Yeshua (Jesus) so very much, she didn't want to ever hurt His feelings by touching any of that stuff; and so she stamped down most of the inner longings that she had to learn or experience her Native heritage. She didn't know that the information she was taught was wrong. She never knew how her tribe were believers and worshippers of Yahweh (the Creator) and His son Yeshua (Jesus) long before Europeans came to these shores. She did not know, nor understand that He had revealed Himself to them just as the Bible declared that He would. She passed away in her 70s without knowing that the longing she had felt all her life to learn and experience Him through her heritage and culture actually came from Holy Spirit Himself.

My mother's passing was 5 years ago and most of the benevolent thoughts or feelings that I had about myself being part Native American pretty much died with her then too. That is until I heard Chief Joseph and Dr. Laralyn Riverwind as guests on a radio program and read this book. It was then that I began to learn the truth about just how very "biblically accurate" the pre-European Native American's beliefs were. They called Him Yah, they called His son Yeshua, they praised Him with drums and flutes and dancing! With each similarity between some First Nations beliefs and my own, the flame of desire that had once been stamped down in my mother surprisingly began to flare up again in me! Now I want to know my Creator and Savior the way my mother's culture did. More importantly, I want to do my part to share the truth in this book in order to spare any Native American Christian the pain that my mother had to endure- of needlessly rejecting a heritage and culture that He meant for them to have as a means of coming closer to and learning more about Him.

A must read for those who think they know it all

Very informative. Great insight into missions failures. White man rationalized with irrational, insane, inhumane thoughts. It never ceases to amaze me that one can assume to know more or think they're better than another of God's children. We each serve a purpose, with different knowledge and skills. Just because I do something different from the way you would doesn't make it automatically evil.

This is an amazing book FULL of wisdom of God passed to the American Native Tribes. Chief Riverwood has collected oral teachings passed down for centuries and written them down for us. This book is a little rough around the edges has typos etc but is so rich in its content that the reader can easily forgive that. It is very timely reading this as Canada fires rage out of control as Josephs people were told generations ago that fires would rage across all of America in the last days..................truly amazing book and from such an unexpected source! EVERYONE should read this book.

Profesional exitosa, con experiencia de muchos años, habiéndose desempeñado como Ejecutiva de diversas empresas pertenecientes a un sólido grupo económico latinoamericano. Actualmente sólo se dedica a colaborar con el crecimiento espiritual de las personas, a través de sus clases, talleres, escritos y libros. María Rosario Rowan es Maestra de Reiki y Meditación en su centro Love Reiki Center; es Ministra Oficiante de Bodas en el Estado de Nueva York y autora de libros sobre la vida después de lo que llaman “muerte”.
