Dev Haskell--Private Detective--great books!

I love every single book Mike Faricy has written in the Dev Haskell series. They are funny but yet suspenseful, great plots, love the characters. If you are looking for a great read to entertain yourself, choose all or any one of the Dev Haskell books.

Take two kidnapped kids that Dev is supposed to be babysitting, add a local mob boss, who wants money back that was stolen from him, and you have a typical Dev Haskell mystery. Typical for Dev Haskell is a great read for us. Page turning, can't put down action.

A More Violent and Less Funny Dev Episode

Dev is asked to babysit two young girls when their mother has a class to attend and the babysitter is unable to be there. He's accosted by a man who knows the mother, and the girls are taken by him. Dev's car is also taken by this kidnapper and is used to rob a gangster who thinks Dev is the robber since his car is spotted. Dev must find the girls and get the money back.

I've read and enjoyed most of the Dev Haskell stories. This one is not as funny and quirky but rather dark with much more violence. I much prefer humor over violence, but this is still a good book.

Get the book, not the Kindle

This is as saucy as you would expect from Cumming. However I made a big mistake. I thought I'd ordered the BOOK, but instead I'd ordered the Kindle version. I have one of the earlier kindles and photos viewed on it are horrible. Cumming is a fun snapshot taker, not a photographer, which reduces the quality that much more. I thoroughly enjoyed the narrative and with squinting I could get the idea of the photos, but I want to go to a real store, find the book, and flip through it to see what I missed. By all means, buy this book if you are into irreverent personal stories of behind the scenes Hollywood and Broadway, but pay the extra money and get the "real" book.

Reading Alan Cumming's writing, and seeing his photographs, feels like making a new friend - an impossibly vibrant, captivating friend. In this and his last book, he doesn't hesitate to share intimate moments of his life, which alternately left me in tears and fits of giggling. Buy this book; you won't regret it!

About the Author
JOSHUA FREE is the founder of the Mardukite Chamberlains (Mardukite Research Organization) and the subsequent publishing house Mardukite Ministries (Mardukite Truth Seeker Press). Through this organization, he has been widely published in more than 40 books on subjects regarding ancient Mesopotamian religion, the Sumerian Anunnaki, the Mardukite tradition of Babylon, Akkadians and Assyrians (Chaldeans) including the volumes: "Secrets of Sumerian Language", "Mesopotamian Magic", "Sumerian Wisdom & Anunnaki Prophecies", "Babylonian Magick" and the original underground bestselling Mardukite sourcebook, "Necronomicon: The Anunnaki Bible", also available as the "Necronomicon: Anunnaki Legacy" (Silver Edition). This book was a great book for me to read as I entered the ministry. I have purchased Crucified by Christians for many friends who had terrible experiences with co-workers or church leaders. However, the ones who benefit the most have been the spouses who watched the one they loved being deeply hurt. It is a great read and gives a perspective to the hardships we face in life's journey.

Hard-hitting. Profound. Scriptural. Convicting.

Gene Edwards reveals the good work of God in a crucified life. Yieldedness, surrender, and forgiveness. In fact, not learning the lesson of forgiveness is tantamount to smashing the face of your spiritual clock; we will go no further with God. Our progress is stopped.

However, on the other side of hurt, humiliation and harm of a "personal crucifixion" lies a closer walk with the Lord: a walk of profound peace, of deep assurance, and abiding love where the world, at last, loses its surly grip on our lives.

We think it strange for a loving father wanting, even orchestrating, our hurt and I'm not convinced I agree with Edwards on that point. I don't believe the Father uses disease, poverty, lies or other weapons of the evil one to destroy his children. In fact, they have been given authority over all the power of th enemy. Rather, God is looking for his children to crucify themselves, from the inside out: to come to a place of yieldedness, surrender and trust upon him alone.

However, one thing is certain, the world hated the Lord. Falsely accused him, slandered him, humiliated, tortured and brutally murdered him. Can His followers and disciples expect anything less?

"Exquisite Agony" does a masterful job of answering the question: "How would love respond?"

These are stories that were told before missionary contact and I realized with each story that I listened to I had heard them before…not from my tribe but from another ancient tribe who has left an impacting legacy on the earth with the greatest story ever told within a book called The Bible.

The Creator planted the seed in my heart to write this book as a way to help build the bridge of reconciliation between the nations. You might laugh, cry, sing for joy or wail from the deepest parts of your soul. Betrayal, love, reconciliation, unity, sacrifice, joy, peace, history, archaeology, science, the perseverance of the human spirit and the longing for Creator to heal our land and broken hearts. Inspiring and insightful

I loved this book.

It is clear from the beginning pages just how much it was written from the heart and that made the experience of reading it touch me on a personal level and changed the way I view my own past.

Even though this book is packed with recent and historical information, it didn't feel as if the author was just informing or teaching me, but rather like he was talking to me. It felt like I was sitting there with him and PipeCarrier, sharing in that warm crackling fire, hearing the sounds of the forest, and learning the truth about a culture for which I have felt so many mixed emotions about throughout my life.

It changed me to read those stories- to hear them told in my head as I imagined myself there. I realized that much of what the author was discussing had also impacted my life through my mother's. Because of the life my beloved half-white, half-native mother endured, I grew up with a strange love-hate mixture of feelings towards the past and present actions of the Europeans, Americans, and Native Americans. Because my mother grew up without her native father in her life, she only had an understanding of her white Irish family's culture and since he wasn't there because he had abandoned them, she was shamed out of ever learning his. Once she became a believer in Jesus, she was further ostracized from the Native culture by all of the disinformation taught about who, how, and what the First Nations worship and believe in. Like everyone else, she was taught by school, media, movies, etc., that Natives were all polytheists ranging anywhere from New Age gurus to out-right Voodoo shamans. As someone who loves Yeshua (Jesus) so very much, she didn't want to ever hurt His feelings by touching any of that stuff; and so she stamped down most of the inner longings that she had to learn or experience her Native heritage. She didn't know that the information she was taught was wrong. She never knew how her tribe were believers and worshippers of Yahweh (the Creator) and His son Yeshua (Jesus) long before Europeans came to these shores. She did not know, nor understand that He had revealed Himself to them just as the Bible declared that He would. She passed away in her 70s without knowing that the longing she had felt all her life to learn and experience Him through her heritage and culture actually came from Holy Spirit Himself.

My mother's passing was 5 years ago and most of the benevolent thoughts or feelings that I had about myself being part Native American pretty much died with her then too. That is until I heard Chief Joseph and Dr. Laralyn Riverwind as guests on a radio program and read this book. It was then that I began to learn the truth about just how very "biblically accurate" the pre-European Native American's beliefs were. They called Him Yah, they called His son Yeshua, they praised Him with drums and flutes and dancing! With each similarity between some First Nations beliefs and my own, the flame of desire that had once been stamped down in my mother surprisingly began to flare up again in me! Now I want to know my Creator and Savior the way my mother's culture did. More importantly, I want to do my part to share the truth in this book in order to spare any Native American Christian the pain that my mother had to endure- of needlessly rejecting a heritage and culture that He meant for them to have as a means of coming closer to and learning more about Him.

A must read for those who think they know it all

Very informative. Great insight into missions failures. White man rationalized with irrational, insane, inhumane thoughts. It never ceases to amaze me that one can assume to know more or think they're better than another of God's children. We each serve a purpose, with different knowledge and skills. Just because I do something different from the way you would doesn't make it automatically evil.

This is an amazing book FULL of wisdom of God passed to the American Native Tribes. Chief Riverwood has collected oral teachings passed down for centuries and written them down for us. This book is a little rough around the edges has typos etc but is so rich in its content that the reader can easily forgive that. It is very timely reading this as Canada fires rage out of control as Josephs people were told generations ago that fires would rage across all of America in the last days..................truly amazing book and from such an unexpected source! EVERYONE should read this book.

RAHM FAMA grew up on a ranch in Santa Fe and cooked his way through Austin, Phoenix, Scottsdale, New York, Colorado Springs, and St. Lucia, and most recently was the executive chef of The Lodge at Vail. Not Your Typical Meat and Potatoes...

I hesitated picking out Meat and Potatoes by Rahm Fama. Meat and potatoes -I'm so pass meat and potato recipes or so I thought. I thought they would be simplistic - well I was wrong . Titles can be deceiving. This book's title should be Meat, Potatoes and Beyond.

When I opened the book to the first recipe combination that included kimchi, I was happy! Meat and Potatoes includes recipes for smoked paprika parsnip fries, "mushroom" (shaped) potatoes chimichurri, pastrami flank steak, braised short ribs with ginger port risotto, cambozola barley risotto, sesame brown rice cakes, curry pear slaw, white pepper-crusted rack of lamb with creamy truffle pistachio potatoes and dozens of more great twists on meat and potatoes. There is even a chapter on game as well.

Tonight I made the pistachio crusted pork Milanese and again I was impressed. The chops were incredibly flavorful and moist. So easy and delicious with perfect instructions. I also made the coconut risotto - really unique and tasty.

This past weekend I had a peanut satay chicken with a pickled cucumber and red onion condiment on the side and it was fantastic - I think the banh mi pork with peanut butter and cucumber salad will be made very soon from this book as well as the waffle fried chicken with maple bacon collards. On Andrew's birthday I made waffle battered chicken tenders and they were fantastic - I am anxious to try Fama's recipe. I am looking forward to making a great deal of Fama's recipes.

I am happy I chose this book from Blogging for Books. I will be using it a great deal to up my meat and potatoes game.

I'm editing this to include a note -- yes, the cover isn't beautiful - but I don't have a problem with the quality of the printed materials - inside the photographs are beautiful - and it's a paperback - I do prefer hardback - but I'm not going to miss out on tons of incredible recipes because of that.

Great tips!

From the first pages of the introduction to the snippets before each recipe, it is obvious that Rahm Fama is passionate about his meats. As he should be, afterall, meat does tend to be the stars of a lot of meals. Included in each section, are some thorough and helpful descriptions of how to select the best meats. He even talks about the differences of how animals are raised and how that can affect the meat as well. I don’t know as much as I probably should about selecting the best cuts of meat, and I’ll probably be referring to those pages often.

The part that I’m a bit more indifferent about are the recipes themselves. There weren't too many that actually had a strong appeal to me. I’ll admit that I can have a picky palate at times, but for whatever reason, I wasn't that impressed. With that said, the pictures in the book are phenomenal, so maybe that will encourage me to try some of them in my kitchen.

At two hundred and forty pages, this paperback targets those looking for meat recipes that can be made in less than an hour. After an introduction explaining the author’s upbringing and love of cooking along with buying and cooking meat tips, the book is divided into six chapters. Full-page colored photographs cover almost all of the completed concoctions. The ending has sources and resources, acknowledgements, and an index.

Recommending “grass-fed,” “pastured,” or “free range” meats, Fama considers the cast-iron skillet and thermometer essentials in the kitchen when cooking. Meat should be brought to room temperature before cooking and allowed to rest so juices are redistributed as the meat cools.

With over fifty-two balanced meals consisting of a meat, starch, and vegetable, the recipes are separated into beef, pork, chicken and turkey, lamb, game and one-pot favorites that cover one to four pages each. All but the last section discuss selecting the meat, general cooking rules, and different cuts.

Each meal begins with the title, followed by the chef’s notes and serving size. The meat recipe is listed first with the ingredients in a bold font and numbered directions below. The starch and vegetable recipes follow in the same format. There is no total preparation times or information on calories.

These articles can be read in the order in which they are presented in the book, or alternatively, the reader who is tempted to, can skip around and read whatever catches their eye first.

What you won't find in the book are space aliens, shape-shifting reptile world leaders, underground Nazi UFO bases, and a host of other fringe topics. Neither will you be taught occult rituals, chants, and such.

The book is rather a roadmap to culture and history, showing how what appear to be spontaneous organic changes in society are anything but. There is evidence and analysis presented by Dr. Makow showing in clear prose that there is a hidden plan at work which governs the changes in our lives. The plan is that crafted by the Illuminati, which is made up of the power elites--what many people call the Establishment or the System. As Dr. Makow emphasizes, "There is only one conspiracy."

If you would like to understand what that plan is, how it affects you and your family, and how to resist the Satanic possession that is promoted by the Illuminati, then this book is for you. If you've felt vaguely uncomfortable with many of the changes in movies, TV, music, and culture in general, changes that feel wrong to you, then this book is for you, too. If you're like me, you'll be outraged to learn that there is a deliberate effort to corrupt us through popular culture.

The book is a mix of the familiar and the obscure, but always points the reader in the direction of a deeper understanding of the world around us. For example, there are several articles with the name "Hitler" in the title. I thought I knew all about Hitler, but Dr. Makow's research has uncovered some ideas suggesting that much of what we think we know about him is incorrect or incomplete. As to the obscure, most people would be unfamiliar with the name "Shulamith Firestone," a feminist icon whose role in influencing society for the worse is covered in an article.

Although I refer to the author as Dr. Makow, it needs to be pointed out that the book is not a dull, scholarly tome, but rather is written in a lively, interesting, conversational style. One of the articles has little text, but reproduces corporate logos that are Satanically themed. That chapter by itself is convincing evidence that something in our society is amiss. Only a single conspiracy, an Illuminati conspiracy, can explain the embrace of Satan that is illustrated in that article.

Many of the articles are illustrated with pictures of key figures in history who played a role in the Illuminati conspiracy. There are also references to other researchers, books, events, and people that can serve as a jumping off point for further reading. For example, although Nelson Mandela is an icon in the minds of some people, the article "Nelson Mandela Was A Terrorist" led me to do more research to satisfy my own interest in the truth about the man.

That word "truth" really summarizes what this book is about. It's intended to tell hidden truths that overturn political correctness if necessary.

One last thing. Although the book is not a "religious book" per se, Dr. Makow makes clear that God and spiritual beliefs are important in defeating the conspiracy. Here's the last paragraph in the book:

"We should dedicate our lives to serving and praising Him. We should not allow the Illuminati to usurp our Birthright.

Makow drives deeper into the Belly of the Beast

I came across Henry Makow’s website on a Friday evening after work sometime between ‘ 911’ and the US invasion of Iraq. I became a regular reader from that moment forward. Millions of people around the world were still reeling in shock at what was going on with the United States government. At first, most people assumed it was an American problem only - an internal coup d' tat. Maybe we could even 'vote the bums out' at the next election. But as the Brave New World continued to unpack in London, Paris, Berlin, Brussels, Sydney, Buenos Aries, Mexico City, Ottawa, Toronto, and Winnipeg, to the horror of the people of the 'Free World', the coup was happening everywhere. National boundaries and local culture no longer protected anyone, anywhere in the world. All the "leaders" and governments enacting identical new laws in lock step.

In those days "conspiracy theory" was still a relatively 'small world'. Since then dozens of websites and personalities have already come and gone. Most were a flash in the pan, most were sewing disinformation. Through all of it, Henry Makow is still here and getting stronger. Still working out of his home, no staff, no publisher. Still working the same website, every day, patiently compiling new essays on the same inquiry that's consumed Dr. Makow since his own 'rude awakening' at the cusp of the Millennium. Henry has something in common with a lot of us: that's the experience of discovering in mid-life that the world doesn't work exactly the way we'd been led to believe.

What I found in Henry’s essays was something more insightful - more 'mature' - than the the typical material in the genre. Everybody else was stressing “us" versus "them”, while Henry’s always had insight into the fact that predatory globalists have succeeded in direct proportion with our own moral and ethical weaknesses. In this connection, reading Henry’s short essays will help you be a better person. When you see we all were ambushed back in the 1960s, you can better remember your original identity.

If you are not looking for answers, you are not ready for Henry. Illuminati III is a better book than I & II. I have all three including two of his earlier offerings. Henry just gets better. I recommend his latest without reservation.

Indispensable to the new world order researcher

Makow offers here a collection of articles that presented me with information that both blew my socks off and fit with the basic facts I'd already gathered. The format makes for easy reading and later reference.

If I were you I'd just get it. The only downside, if this is one, is that I believe it presumes an amount of familiarity with new world order history. I suppose as well that it could be interpreted as anti-Semitic. Makow, as a Jewish man, explains throughout the book why the satanic ideology of the elite can accurately be described as Cabalist and Jewish as well as Masonic and Luciferian. I was formerly into mysticism, the fact is that a lot of the esoteric thinking that leads to the elite grinding the world down back to the stone age is essentially identical to a lot of things taught in rabbinical Judaism. Keep an open mind.
